With a wide variety of cosmetic procedures and skin products available these days, Dr. Welsh can offer anything from chemical peels, laser hair removal, fillers, and an amazing machine called the Zeltiq - an non-invasive procedure that gently and effectively removes fat from targeted areas of that body that have not responded to traditional diet and exercise. (It basically disintegrates the fat over a period of time). Patients can benefit from noticeable yet natural looking results in their problem areas, providing an overall smoother body contour. Also known as CoolSculpting, it is most effective in removing fat from the abdomen, love handles and back.

If you big on products (which I certainly am), here are some that I definitely recommend looking into:

*Latisse - I swear it works!!!

Latisse works by altering the growth phases of your lashes. First, it increases the length of the phase, and second, increases the number of hairs in the growth phase which creates the effect of longer, fuller and darker lashes. It's a once a day treatment and within 4 weeks you'll notice a huge difference. By week 12, it will look like you're wearing falsies.

*Neocutis - Lumiere

This miracle cream (along with many other products in the line) is fantastic. It's a gentle eye cream that reduces the appearance of dark circles and puffiness with caffeine, bisabolol, and sodium hyaluronate, in combination with the effective complex PSP. PSP (processed skin proteins) is a blend of essential nutrients such as growth factors, antioxidants and matrix proteins including collagen which revives skin, causing it to become softer, firmer, younger and healthier-looking. It is fragrance and colorant free. Apply it in the AM and before bed with your moisturizer. Their bio-restorative cream (meant for all over the face) is another amazing product designed to speed the recovery process of the skin after cosmetic procedures such as laser, microdermabrasion, and plastic surgery. It also calms and soothes the skin if you have irritated or sensitive skin. If that isn't good enough already, it also works as an anti-aging product to smooth fine lines and wrinkes, and increase collagen and elastin levels of the skin.

*Skinceuticals Phloretin CF

Phloretic CF represents a new class of preventive and corrective topical antioxidant treatment. We all know that we NEED to be wearing sunscreen daily, but right before you put your sunscreen on (at least a 30 SPF - skinceuticals makes a great one) apply a few drops of this miracle technology that protects not only free radicals, but the range of other reactive molecules known to cause damage and DNA mutations among the integral cell types. It also corrects existing damage by stimulating the synthesis of essential proteins and fibers and acellerating cell turnover. The result: a strengthened support structure on the inside and a more youthful, firm, radiant appearance on the outside. This product's active ingredients include: phloretin, vitamin C and ferulic acid.

*Obagi C Clarifying Serum

A concoction of Hyrdoquinone and Ascorbic Acid (vitamic C) penetrates deep into the skin's dermal layers where it enhances collagen production thereby reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Hydroquinone decreases the formation of melanin in the skin (melanin is the brown pigment in the skin color) and gradually lightens darkened areas such as freckles, age spots, chloasma, and melasma. The results: radiant, luminescent skin.

*Liquid Smile

Liquid Smile is a paint on tooth whitener and stylish way to whiten your smile in just an hour. It is the first any only professional whitening pen, and affordable, as well. It takes less that one minute to apply and contains the most powerful dosage of hydrogen peroxide of any paint-on whitener.

*Replenix Elite Glycolic/Salicyclic Acid 2.2 Cleanser

Formulated by Dr. Welsh herself, this popular cleanser saved my skin. Not only does it contain a beneficial dose of green tea to help protect skin cells from damage and premature aging, but it also contains 2% Glycolix Acid and 2% Salicylic Acid to fight acne and blemishes. Start off by using the product at night only 3 times a week (use CeraVe hydrating cleanser on the off days) and see your skin shed off the stress and damage.

*Revision Intellishade Tinted Moisturizer SPF 45 Matte

Essentially a three in one super moisturizer, this matte finish SPF conceals, corrects and protects. Wearing SPF is the number one rule of thumb to keeping your skin cancer free and looking great. Revision not only reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles but gives your face a healthy glow and color with a matte tint to conceal redness and blemishes. It helps correct years of sun exposure with Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5 (improves skin elasticity and firmness by activating the skin's own growth factors) and of course, protects with SPF 45 UVA and UVB broad spectrum coverage combined with an IPF (immune protection factor) for complete sun defense.

Winter in New York: Food, food and more food!

I had the pleasure of visiting one of my best friends in New York during the Holidays this past December. I had a wonderful time and of course, ate non-stop at some of the best restaurants. Here are my top recommendations if you find yourself in the Big Apple for drinks, brunch, and dinner!

Great ambiance, long wait (but well worth it). We started with a fantastic eggplant dip, shared a simple but delicious arugula salad and the most glorious thin crust burrata pizza. Yum! They also had a great wine list and a large selection of trendy bourbons.

One of Daniel Boulud's restaurants in the Bowery - absolutely fantastic! This has to be one of my favorite places I've been to in 2011. Started with a huge selection of East and West Coast Oysters, a delicious butternut squash soup, the chop-chop salad and a very decadent roasted duck with potato macaire, braised swiss chard and glazed orange with bigarade sauce. Between the very extensive and impressive list of wines and beers and the fantastic service, we were extremely pleased. Make a reservation ahead of time (they seated us right away), and make sure to come early for a creative drink from their mixologist.

Bar Boulud is another one of Daniel Boulud's restaurants; this one located on the upper east side across from the Lincoln Center. This dinner was quite a treat as it was for my friend's company holiday party for a prestigious auction house. We had a dedicated private room and started with delicious passed hors d' oeuvres (mini croque monsieur sandwich bite, pate on a crisp, a pork springroll, and so on) and then sat down for an amazing three course dinner.

What a fantastic brunch place located right in the heart of the West Village (amazing shopping nearby). With waiters clad in Saint James shirts, and delicious mimosas, you can't go wrong with this trendy brunch spot. I would recommend the eggs benedict or grilled shrimp salad. Be sure to stroll the area towards soho for the finest shopping experience.

I stopped off at the Bowery Hotel to meet friends for cocktails as soon as my taxi pulled in from JFK. After a long ride in the cab from the airport, it was the perfect mix of trendy chic and "OMG.. I'm finally here!" Immediately before walking in to the hotel, Stellan Skarsgaard was standing outside which set the tone for my experience in NYC. With the lounge covered entirely in sofas, gorgeous ornate rugs and dim lighting, it creates the perfect ambiance for a nice evening cocktail.

Located right in the Flatiron District this place is a foodie's mecca! Part market, part collection of restaurants, the space is divided in types of food - both for purchase to take home as well as to order and eat there. With a meat and cheese section, seafood selection, pasta and pork, and meat section, you can imagine we were overwhelmed with what to choose. We settled on venturing up to the top floor (a covered rooftop patio with cask brewed beers) that had a variety of everything offered in the floors below us. Still entirely overwhelmed, we decided on multiple small bites and each had a taste of the in-house brew selections. This was one of my favorite places that I stumbled upon and am crossing my fingers that they open one up in San Francisco immediately! If you're a fan of the Ferry Building, going to Eataly is a must!

Hands down - the coolest spot I went to! Full of celebrities ( ehh hem, Edward Norton), a menu complete with comfort food treats (categorized there as Simple, Rustic Early American food) such as mac 'n cheese, pot roasts, steaks and crab cakes. And of course, we can't forget about the most delicious mixology inspired cocktails: I didn't want to leave. What made this place so great was the vibe within (although the host was quite snooty) - either make a reservation by calling weeks in advance or head straight to the bar in the back and fight someone off for a spot to sit. You can find Freeman's at the end of Freeman Alley with adorable low wattage italian bistro string lighting.

Want a quick sandwich? Stop at Chef Joe Doe's new stop "Joe Dough". Before taking off on an adventure to the Guggenheim, I had the most ridiculous Cubano sandwich with swiss, roast pork, shoulder bacon, and pickles. Don't stop here if you have a dinner reservation that night!

As a Culinary Professional living in the San Francisco Bay Area, Executive Chef Eric Magnani has a strong connection to the ocean and all of its wondrous resources. This year marks the third year that the California Academy of Sciences has graciously offered Global Gourmet Catering and Chef Eric Magnani the opportunity to participate in their World Ocean Day festivities.

"I am fortunate to be a presenter in their sustainable seafood Chef’s Demonstration that features local celebrity Chefs from San Francisco. I am very excited to be back this year and excited to present a fantastic sustainably farmed fish from right here in California. As a matter of fact, this is the only farm of its kind here in California." - Chef Eric Magnani

The Fish: Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

The Farm: McFarland Springs in Lassen County. Eric explains that he "discovered this amazing product while having dinner at a Berkeley restaurant run by a friend of mine. She told me about the program and I immediately looked into it and now have switched all of my trout usage from Idaho products to this one. I have reduced my carbon footprint by using this local product and am supporting a California business that is trying to grow the sustainable fishing industry through a rigorously managed aqua farm that focuses on low carbon footprint based fish feed."

The first year Eric presented a rock shrimp from Belize that had a truly unique approach to eliminating their carbon footprint. Last year, Eric demonstrated a wild sustainable Arctic Char from the northern Pacific that is a great substitution for the beleaguered Pacific Salmon.

Andrea & Scott Featured in San Francisco Chronicle

Andrea and Scott had the most wonderful wedding celebration at the Julia Morgan Ballroom. Their ceremony took place in the lobby and cocktails, dinner and dancing followed on the gorgeous 15th floor of the Merchants Exchange building. This wedding featured delicious food stations for their guests through out the night which including an amazing fennel crusted pork.

A note from the Bride: Planning our wedding was a process that started with an intimate beachside ceremony and evolved to a three-day celebration at my family’s ranch. Once we chose the venue, the rest of the pieces started to fall into place. Chris and I wanted it to be quality, with good music, good food, and good drinks. For us, the ultimate key to enjoying the process was the vendors, and we were incredibly fortunate to compile an amazing team that understood our vision and ran with it.

We were married on a rustic arbor build by my father. My mother drove me in horse & buggy to the wedding; she and our friend also sang at our ceremony. Our florist created a scene at the ceremony site with a simple heart shaped flower out of butter mums hanging from an old cabin door, orchids hanging from the pine trees, and a white rose petal scroll down the aisle.

Following a short cocktail hour with a local three piece jazz band, the reception kicked off with a Rat Pack cover band. A dinner buffet followed. Most impressive was how good the food was, especially because the caterers were not working with a full commercial kitchen! The head table was decorated by our florist, Blooms by Martha Andrews. The key to pulling it all together was having an amazing coordinator who poured her heart and soul into our wedding.

Despite all of the stress and time involved with planning such an event, Chris and I feel that it could not have been a better celebration or a better weekend with those we love.

This particular wedding holds a dear spot in our hearts at Global Gourmet Catering. The gorgeous bride is our one and only Ashley - an integral member of the Global sales team! Ashley and Nick dated for six and a half year prior to his romantic proposal on a carriage ride through New York's Central Park. Champagne and dinner followed at The Plaza to celebrate the next chapter in their lives.

With Ashley's extensive history of event planning, we knew we were in store for a fabulous wedding. Guests were greeted with lemon-rose water and iced green tea as they arrived to the gorgeous Jacuzzi Winery in Sonoma, CA. The ceremony took place on the Vineyard Vista which provided a stunning backdrop, Italian marble fountain and overlooked the estate vines.

Immediately following the ceremony were butler passed hors d' oeuvres, an open full bar including scotch pairings and a decadent Meditteranean Antipasti spread which featured cured meats, artisan cheeses, pate and olives.

A custom menu, created by our Executive Chef Eric Magnani, featured seasonal and local favorites of Ashley and Nick such as kobe beef short ribs braised for days with trumpet mushrooms and a mouth watering chicken dish stuffed with prosciutto, porcinis and sage-parmesan ricotta.

Following dinner, guests entered the Italian inspired Barrel Room which was completely transformed with lounge furniture, chandeliers, dramatic lighting and beautiful florals. Guests were also offered a gourmet Sundae Bar which included Knob Creek Bourbon Gelato, sea salt caramel sauce and candied pecans - yum!

After a week of sunny and warm weather in San Francisco, it was perfect timing for an outdoor wedding ceremony at the James Leary Flood Mansion. The couple shared their vows on the steps of the courtyard with gorgeous tulips in bloom. Yellow and cream roses and tulips filled the urns and centerpieces. This picturesque Spring wedding featured an Asian fusion menu with a gorgeous Napa cabbage wrapped Cod fillet and tender short rib.

Global Gourmet was proud to be a part of this fantasic couple's beautiful wedding at the Bently Reserve this March. The romantic ambiance that the two created was done simply with straw toned lighting and gorgeous cream and violet colored florals. The pair kept their menu simple by creating a custom short rib and chicken duet plate with a beautiful stacked vegetarian entree as an alternative option for their guests. The gorgeous ceremony had a petal and candle lined aisle with enormous florals to accent the entrance and altar. Guests enjoyed passed hors d' oeuvres, cocktails and a beautiful artisan cheese station during the hour and a half cocktail hour while the banking hall transformed into a surprise reception. The evening continued with music, heartfelt speeches, great food and laughter. Margot said, "Seriously, the happiest day of our lives! Everything from the venue, flowers, tables, food, organization, bar and cake was so perfect!" We were so blessed to be a part of their special day that marked the start of their lives together.

Maritime Museum Re-Opening Launch Party!

Built in 1939, the Museum (a part of the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park) is a marvel of art-deco style with classic terrazzo floors and fanciful murals and mosaics created by renowned artists Sargent Johnson and Hilaire Hiler, and was constructed in the Streamline Moderne style to resemble an ocean liner.

With breathtaking views of the San Francisco Bay, Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and Angel Island, the newly restored grounds surrounding the museum as well as the outdoor patios located on all three floors offer guests world-renowned views of the most beautiful city on earth. Global Gourmet Catering is proud to support DIFFA and the Positive Health Program at The TABLE-HOP & TASTE preview party on Wednesday, Nov. 17th from 6-10pm. The Table-Hop & Taste sets the stage for Thursday night's gala as designers and guests mingle and preview the incredible table creations. DINING BY DESIGN brings together established talent, budding artists, and celebrated individuals to create three-dimensional dining installations that awe, inspire, and delight.

DIFFA and the AIDS Research Institute at UCSF produce DINING BY DESIGN in San Francisco to benefit the Positive Health Program at San Francisco General Hospital, the nation's first specialized HIV/AIDS clinic.

The Golden Gate Express Garden Railway™

Join us for a gala preview evening of this remarkable exhibit in San Francisco's crown jewel of Victorian architecture. This season the 'romance of the rails' includes new Golden Gate Park Landmarks. Each landmark is constructed of recycled and reclaimed materials. G-gauge trains steam past a lush landscape of dwarf plants and flowers. The landscape is designed and sited specially for this exhibit.

All proceeds from tickets, benefit drawing and sponsorship will support the Conservatory of Flowers youth environmental education programs.
